Book Endorsement

"Mr. Scheibeler's book is a chilling portrayal of the process by which intelligent people can persist for years in pursuing the Amway dream while making no money. It is all the more significant because he earned his way to one of the highest distributor levels in the Company....I learned of similar experiences from ex-distributors when I interviewed them for the State of Wisconsin's Amway litigation in the early 80's. Such conditioning may explain why the tax returns (obtained for this litigation) of all active Wisconsin Direct Distributors, the company's top 1%, showed an average net income of minus $900. Why did these men and women persist....under these economic circumstances? Eric Scheibeler's book answers this question for those whose minds are clear enough to read its pages." – BRUCE A. CRAIG, retired Assistant Attorney General, Wisconsin Department of Justice - Office of Consumer Protection

Merchants of Deception Closing -- Last Chance

Thank you! Thank you for being part of the Merchants of Deception community that has grown to over 40 nations. It has been ten years of effort to protect those recruited into the Am-way business globally.

I have had the good fortune of meeting and speaking with many of you. That has been wonderful.

This has been a difficult but rewarding journey. Great strides have been made to protect consumers with Am-way having to radically change its business model in the UK and it appears that many of those protections will be rolling out in other markets now.

It is time, in my life, to literally close this chapter in the book and move on to other exciting endeavors wholly unrelated to M-L-M. If you have not yet obtained your copy of the new, updated and edited book, Merchants of Deception, for yourself or a loved one — you can only do so for the next seven days. At that time, the Website and Blog are coming down and they will no longer be available in any format. The newest edition of Merchants of Deception is available for this limited time in pdf or paperback
for your convenience.

You can check out the professionally edited, updated version with details on issues like how to get your money back at the new home page:

Many have said the book provided them a sense of profound healing after being involved in one of the Am-way motivational groups. Others have used the book to reach loved one.

What others are saying:

“My husband started researching the changes in our son and his new life with Amway/Quixtar. This is when my husband found Eric Scheibeler. I can honestly say that by finding Eric Scheibeler it saved our son’s life. Eric Scheibeler helped us understand the fraudulent activities that were involved in the business, as well as the mental indoctrination that was being done to our son. Eric Scheibeler’s book, Merchants of Deception, was literally word for word as to what was being done to our son. I often wonder where my child would be today if it wasn’t for Eric Scheibeler’s compassionate advice. I also don’t know where my husband or I would be because Eric Scheibeler counseled us on a daily basis. He told us each and every day that we should keep the faith because we would get our son back. To this day, I don’t believe that would have happened without Eric and his life changing his book.”

America’s Opportunity Fraud Expert

Author Eric Scheibeler

Author Eric Scheibeler

I am not a person who “tried” Amway and failed but rather someone who built the business with great passion and enthusiasm to the coveted Founder’s Emerald level. After nearly a decade of recruiting many good, honorable people into “the business”, including my own father, I made disturbing discoveries.

After a decade of investing in this, I was the last one on earth who wanted to discover and then document nearly a 99% loss rate for consumers induced to “invest in their own Amway business”.

I was a loyal, trusting IBO for almost a decade, building an international Amway / Quixtar business. Following protocol, I relayed these facts directly to Amway / Quixtar corporation senior management and the shocking events that followed revelations of IBO deception are chronicled in detail in the book, Merchants of Deception.

Why have Dateline NBC, Business Week, Forbes, ITV (Europe) and others interviewed me regarding Merchants of Deception? Why am I known as America’s Opportunity Fraud Expert? That answer and many more are in the book itself.

Amway Cost Me $2,500 Short Term

Eric,

How much did it cost, short term it cost me around $2500.00 however most of that was system cost. In the long term, It cost me two years in which I could have done something more productive. I learned some lessons from being in the business, mostly to have some confidence in myself, but that was already there, otherwise I may still be in the business trying to finding it.

Amway Victim Lost a Lot More Than $12,000

My ten-year experience with Amway/Quixtar is a nightmarish memory. I have no idea how much money I lost, but I do know that at the point of my “divorce” from my ex-wife and Quixtar, $12,000 worth of unopened cassettes with my name and phone number on them were found in a dumpster [...]

Lost About $2500 in Amway

I was involved with the amway opportunity about 15 years ago.
I got pulled in w. the payplan etc. However, it didn’t take too long to realize that the money was in the tapes books and seminars.

I never actually got to the point of making a profit.I used the products and sold some too. [...]

Quixtar Victim Received Cease and Desist from Family

I was an Amway Distributor in 1997-1999 in that time I made Silver in the business. My upline Diamond was Wayne Callender (JetStream Team) and My Crown Ambassador was Bill Britt. I was fascinated to learn about the horrible business practices because it all happened to me (on a smaller level of [...]

$1800 Lost to Quixtar Scam

Let’s see… first there’s the start-up costs, plus my renewal fees — about $75 per year, which would add up to $300.

Then there’s the money we spent on product orders — typically $100 to $150 each time, before taxes and shipping expenses, which sometimes amounted to as much as $200. According to [...]

Lost Over $5,000 Annually in Quixtar

Eric,

I’ll have to do some math, and I’ll send a more accurate response, but I was on standing order/full function attendance, etc for at least six years the first time, which was probably a few thousand a year easy, and the first two years in Quixtar (married with kids), I’m sure we were [...]

Amway Cost Us a Few Thousand

Hello again Eric,

I couldn’t put a figure on what the Amway business cost us, as we got rid of all our old paperwork a few years ago. But it would have been a few thousand at least. We too were on book of the month and Direct book of the month [...]

Lost About $2500 in Amway

I just read your book, what an eye-opener.

My wife and I got suckered into the “business-oportunity” back around 1997-1998. We didn’t do it long, maybe about a year. We attended meetings, seminars and listed to the tapes. We made trips to Rhode Island, Florida and upstate New York. [...]

Quixtar Rep Cost His Employer $400,000

Eric

My story is a little different but I feel it may help demonstrate the situation people can get themselves into with Quixtar/Amway. I am not, nor ever was, an IBO but the company I work for had started a division in the US and hired a General Manager that they felt was [...]
